VERB PLAN, SCHEDULE OR ARRANGE WHEN SHOULD HAPPEN OR BE DONE. 

TIME MANAGEMENT : ... THE ABILITY TO USE ONE'S TIME EFFECTIVELY OR PRODUCTIVELY, ESPECIALLY AT WORK.

OPTIMIZING STUDY TIME

  • ONLY A SMALL PERCENTAGE OF LEARNING HAPPENS IN THE CLASSROOM.
  • LECTURES SERVES AS AN INTRODUCTION TO A SUBJECT: (IT'S UP TO YOU TO PUT THE FLESH ON THE BONES THROUGH FURTHER READING, ASSIGNMENT, NOTE-MAKING AND REVISION)
  • IT IS CRUCIAL TO SET ASIDE ENOUGH TIME FOR STUDY TO CONSOLIDATE AND DEEPEN YOUR LEARNING.

REDUCING PROCRASTINATION


  1. THE ACTION OF DELAYING OR POSTPONING SOMETHING
  2. PROCRASTINATION, THE ACT OF PUTTING OFF INTENTIONALLY OF DOING SOMETHING THAT SHOULD BE DONE. IT IS ALSO A SOURCE OF GREAT STRESS AND ANXIETY FOR MANY PEOPLE.

THE CAUSES


REDUCING PROCRASTINATION

  • HOW? : BREAKS TASK INTO SMALLER, MORE MANAGEABLE TASK.

-FOR EXAMPLE WRITING A PAPER CAN BE BROKEN DOWN INTO GETTING REFERENCES, READING REFERENCE, WRITING AN OUTLINE, CREATING A ROUGH DRAFT AND COMPLETING THE FINAL COPY.

  • WHEN GIVEN AN ASSIGNMENT, DO SOME WORK ON IT RIGHT AWAY
  • SPEND SOME TIME STUDYING EACH DAY
  • REWARD YOURSELF ALONG THE WAY

SPECIFIC: CLEAR, CONCISE, TANGIBLE. WHAT, WHO, WHEN, WHY, WHERE?
MEASURABLE: TIME, MONEY, VOLUME. HOW MUCH OF HOW MANY?
ACHIEVABLE: GOALS SHOULD BE CHALLENGING BUT NOT IMPOSSIBLE
REALISTIC: GOALS SHOULD BE CONSISTENT WITH OTHER LONG TERM GOALS
TIMELY: CREATE A TIME FRAME. WHEN TO ACHIEVE THE RESULT?
